Liz East was 30 and had worked in criminal defense for four years when she decided she could no longer continue.
In the UK, she traded the courts for leashes: today she walks between 20 and 30 dogs a day, leads four group walks, and charges 14 pounds an hour for each one. Her daily earnings come to between 300 and 400 pounds, around 530 dollars, more than she earned in her former legal job.
She works half as many hours as before and says she has never felt so at peace. Not everyone applauded the decision: some reproach her for leaving behind years of study for what they consider a lesser occupation. She responds with the numbers to back her up.
