José Luis and José Armando Cevallos were born joined together and remained that way for 27 years.
Each had his own heart, but they shared part of their digestive system and their liver. When they were children, doctors considered separating them, but the risk was too high. Over time, they chose to stay together themselves.

The Ecuadorians from Milagro shared their lives on social media: their dreams, their ordinary days, and their conviction that disability did not take away their joy. They had been in Colombia since April, undergoing therapy with a huge hope: learning to walk.

On October 14, José Luis began to feel unwell. He was taken to the hospital and suffered a cardiac emergency. According to Fernando Carrillo, an acquaintance, José Armando saw everything and desperately begged him: “Don’t leave me alone”. Hours later, he too suffered a cardiac episode. They both died in the early hours of October 15.

A month earlier, in an interview, they had said: “We were born together, we will die together”. Today, that phrase sounds different. 💔
