Buckshot didn’t want to stay in the background.
Amanda and Phil were expecting a baby and wanted to celebrate with a maternity photo shoot. Their horses, an essential part of the family, had to be in the pictures. What they never imagined was that one of them would steal the show.
Photographer Kristen Zaffiro was still setting up the scene when Buckshot positioned himself right next to the couple, as if he understood perfectly what was going on, and started posing. Laughing, Kristen told him: “Well, at least you could smile”. And the horse did. Grimaces, gestures, teeth bared. Every time she laughed, he seemed to laugh too and hammed it up even more.
What was meant to be an intimate portrait turned into a shared laugh fest. Amanda and Phil weren’t bothered at all: “We loved them all!”, they said. The photos became a one-of-a-kind keepsake: a smiling horse, a happy couple, and a baby on the way who already has a story to tell for a lifetime.
