Bunny was eight weeks old and weighed just over a kilo when someone found her alone on a porch in Texas.
She had no collar, no microchip, and no one claiming her. All she had was diseased skin covered in severe demodectic mange, and a body too weak to support itself. At BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, her size and condition landed her on the euthanasia list: puppies that need lengthy treatments are the first to be left behind when space runs out.
The organization This Is Houston learned about her case and got her out of the shelter just in time. They took her to a foster home, where she began treatment and, little by little, stopped hiding and started running all over the house. When it was time to find her a permanent home, the family that had cared for her during the darkest chapter of her life realized they could not part with her. They adopted her forever.
