For years, people made fun of her face. Today, Josy Novaes proudly shows the life she built despite those who once tried to make her feel inferior.
Josy was just two years and ten months old when a pressure cooker filled with hot food fell on her in Brazil. She suffered second- and third-degree burns on her face and other parts of her body, underwent numerous skin grafts and surgeries, and they even had to use skin from her legs to reconstruct some areas.
Growing up with the scars was not easy either. Josy said that she was teased at school and often returned home crying, but over the years she began a process of self-acceptance that changed the way she saw herself.
She also started her own family with her husband and her son Enzo. It was precisely the images of her sharing moments with her little one that helped her story go viral and led thousands of people to start following her.
After growing up listening to comments about her appearance, Josy now says that she considers herself beautiful and, above all, that she is happy being who she is 🥹.
