Businessman offered to buy María Consuelo, the woman who survived an acid attack and requested euthanasia after 26 years of pain and abandonment, a house. Could that gesture help change her life?

💔 María Consuelo Córdoba is 58 years old and has spent 26 years carrying the scars of an acid attack inflicted by her own husband in Bogotá in 2000, simply because she had decided to work in the city. Since then, she has undergone 87 surgeries.

Today she lives in a rented room, relying on the charity of others to pay for medical checkups that never end.

Four years ago, her EPS, Capital Salud, had already authorized euthanasia. In 2017, she met with Pope Francis and decided to wait, hoping that someone would help her before she made that decision.

That help only arrived this week, when she had already spoken publicly about dying.

Businessman Arturo Calle heard her story on the radio and offered to buy her a home, in addition to providing monthly assistance, and called on others to join him.

A genuine gesture, yes. But also proof of everything that was missing before: 26 years without a home of her own, without real support, until her pain became news. Did it have to come to this for someone to act?💔
