A shocking story is shaking Brazil after businesswoman Carolina Sthela Ferreira was arrested on May 7. Authorities captured her at a gas station when she was trying to flee after brutally assaulting her 19-year-old domestic worker, Samara Regina, who is five months pregnant.

The terrible incident occurred on April 17 at a residence in Paço do Lumiar. The homeowner accused the young woman of having taken a ring from the property. With the help of an armed man, they beat and threatened the worker for nearly an hour, even after finding the jewel in the dirty laundry.

“Almost an hour of slaps and punches, she even stepped on her fingers”, the attacker herself confessed in leaked audios that ended up exposing her to the police. For her part, the victim recounted the terror she lived through to save her baby: “I was protecting my belly the whole time”.

The businesswoman, who already has ten previous legal proceedings and a 2024 conviction for slandering another former nanny, tried to defend herself in an unusual way on broadcast television by arguing that she may have exaggerated her words due to alleged medical problems, while denying the physical assault that doctors had already confirmed.

The woman remains behind bars in Pedrinhas prison while the investigation moves forward.
