“Can you even call that a shoe?”: Margaret Qualley wore soleless Chanel shoes on the red carpet, and many believe fashion went too far this time

Margaret Qualley arrived on the red carpet in an elegant black Chanel dress, but all it took was a glance downward for all the attention to end up on her feet 😭. The actress wore one of the brand’s most curious designs: heels that do away with practically the entire sole and leave the foot directly on the ground.

The design features a small black structure at the heel, with the Chanel logo, and thin straps that tie around the foot. From the front, however, the effect is very different: it looks as though Margaret were walking barefoot and simply had a heel fastened behind her.

The images quickly began circulating, and the opinions came with them. While some appreciated the design’s daring and unconventional nature, others directly questioned whether something without a sole under the foot can still be considered footwear. “Calling it a shoe is already too much”, they joked online.

Fashion has spent years proving that practically anything can become a trend, but Chanel has just opened a new debate: how much can you take away from a shoe before it stops being a shoe? 😂
