Chayanne has been married to Marilisa Maronesse for more than three decades and has never been one to expose his private life. But when he talks about his marriage, he is direct.
They met in 1988 at the Miss Venezuela pageant, secretly married in 1992, and now have two children, Lorenzo Valentino and Isadora Sofía. With that history behind them, the Puerto Rican singer revealed to People en Español the formula that sustains their relationship: “I always say that everything is a courtship until you have a child. Then the child has their own life too, and you have to try to maintain that courtship”.
For Chayanne, the trap lies in not letting parenthood take up all the space in the relationship. “You must not put your children in the middle, because then the distance between your partner and you becomes greater”, he explained. Communication, respect, and a daily decision to keep choosing each other: according to him, that is the true secret behind so many years together.
