It all happened in 2018, when a boy named Emanuele broke down in tears in front of the Supreme Pontiff while trying to ask him a question about his father, who had recently passed away.
Seeing how affected he was, Francis tenderly called him over so he could whisper the question in his ear. After hugging him, the pontiff shared with the audience the doubt that was troubling the little boy: he wanted to know whether his father, who was an atheist but had baptized his children and was a good man, could go to heaven.
Moved, the pope reassured the boy in front of everyone.
“Without a doubt, God was proud of your father, because it is easier for a believer to baptize his children than for someone who is not. This, without a doubt, pleased God greatly”, he replied, in a moment that still moves millions of people. 🥺❤️
