China has strict laws that censor women modeling lingerie in live broadcasts for being “obscene content”, which led to men being hired so they could show off the garments.
“It’s not sarcasm. Everyone follows the laws to the letter and nobody wants punishment”, commented a model named Xu.
This new way of promoting lingerie sparked divided opinions in the country. “So, what am I supposed to do if I want to show our product live? Simple, find a man to show it”, commented a user on the Chinese site Weibo.
The new way of modeling underwear in China has gone around the world; while some thought it was a joke, others defend the idea.
