The stadium is named Chiqui Tapia. The club is run by his son, Matías ‘El Chiqui’ Tapia. And on Sunday, before Barracas Central faced Rosario Central, the son himself presented his dad with a plaque for the “outstanding management” that brought the new lighting system to the venue 🏆
The problem is that those much-praised lights decided not to cooperate: minutes before kickoff, the stadium was plunged into complete darkness and the match had to be delayed 35 minutes until someone found the correct switch 😅
The blackout did not stop the protocol: at halftime, with the lights working again, the Tapia family went ahead and presented the recognition at the center of the field. Barracas ended up losing 0-1 to a goal by Alan Rodríguez, but the real result of the night had already gone viral halfway around the world.
