Pelayo, the heart of Chueca, filled up with impossible platforms and nervous laughter. It was Thursday, July 2, and as every year for 27 editions, Madrid staged its most outrageous race: running in heels of up to 15 centimeters without smashing your face in the attempt.

But it wasn’t enough just to make it to the finish. Halfway through the course, participants had to stop and change clothes before resuming the race, while hundreds of spectators shouted from the sidewalks. There were stumbles, there were heroic comebacks, and there were those who crossed the finish line as if they had been born wearing those heels.

It was hosted by Chumina Power, as part of the official MADO 2026 program, which runs until July 5. If this edition made anything clear, it’s that in Chueca balance is something you train, but there’s never any shortage of the desire to have a good time. 👠🏃♀️
