What seemed like a completely routine task ended unexpectedly. A man used a metal brush to clean his grill, but shortly afterward began to feel discomfort that led him to seek medical attention.

The problem was something tiny: one of the brush’s fine metal bristles had become lodged in his throat.

The case once again drew attention to a little-known risk associated with this type of utensil. With use, some metal bristles can come loose and remain stuck to the surface of the grill. If one of them ends up in the food, it can be swallowed without the person realizing it.
In this case, the bristle had to be located and removed by healthcare professionals. The accident also prompted a warning to carefully inspect the grill after using this type of brush and make sure no loose bristles have been left behind.

What seemed like simply cleaning the grill before a barbecue ended up sending a man to the hospital because of a tiny piece of metal.
