Few figures in Hollywood carry the weight of Clint Eastwood. With more than seven decades of career, four Oscars, and films that have become classics such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Dirty Harry, Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby and Gran Torino, the actor and director has always been known for expressing his opinions without worrying too much about the consequences.
That happened in 2016, when he gave an interview to Esquire magazine. In the midst of a conversation about politics and the cultural climate in the United States, Eastwood took aim at what he considers an excess of political correctness.
“Deep down, everyone is getting tired of political correctness and of having to please others. That is the generation we live in now… We’re really in a pussy generation. Everybody’s walking on eggshells.”
When the journalist asked him what he meant by that statement, the filmmaker elaborated on his idea: “All those people who say, ‘You can’t do this, you can’t do that, you can’t say that.'”
