Everything changed when James, his eldest son, was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome at age 2. The 48-year-old Irish actor entered rehab in 2006 and today has been sober for almost 20 years. “I was in no condition to be a friend, much less a father to a child with such demanding needs”, he confessed.

Today, Farrell recalls with tears the day James took his first steps, something doctors thought was impossible. He also founded the Colin Farrell Foundation to help other families like his. “James is the reason I quit the bottle”, he says. Sobriety didn’t make him a perfect father, but it did make him a present one. ❤️
