Walmer Pacheco is from Barranquilla, but his heart is in Pereira. He is the captain of Deportivo Pereira, the team from that city that the earthquake left in ruins.
As soon as he learned of the tragedy, he did not stay watching from afar. He organized a collection center in Barranquilla to gather donations, got into his vehicle, and drove to Pereira.
Upon arriving, he did not give speeches: he put on gloves and began clearing rubble alongside rescue teams, searching for survivors.
He could have stayed safely at home. Instead, he is there, amid the destroyed streets, helping his people with his own hands.
