On April 2018, a traffic stop in Tenafly, New Jersey, turned into a national scandal.

Caren Turner who, at the time, was a powerful Commissioner of Port Authority, showed up at the scene where her daughter was a passenger of a care being towed.

What should have been a normal procedure started to escalate when Turner tried to use her political influence to stop the officers, showing off her ID to pressure them, claiming she was a friend of the mayor and high commands at the police, insulting the officers’ intelligence.
Despite her threats, the police stood their ground and the car was towed due to lack of registry and insurance.

The real consequences, however, arrived days later. After the video went viral, Turner was forced to quit her post and was ethically fined $1,500.
