Kate Beckinsale didn’t say a word. She just deleted.
Out of nowhere, the 54-year-old actress deleted all the photos and videos from her Instagram. In their place, she left a single image: the word “goodbye” in white letters on a black background, with comments disabled. In her stories, a rainbow appeared with a message that sent chills through her followers: “Congratulations, you won. I give up”.
In that same text, she mentioned blogger Perez Hilton’s self-harm and Ariana Grande’s decision to step away from the stage, and asked for something simple: to treat others with more consideration and stop commenting on their bodies. Shortly afterward, she deleted everything again. None of this came out of nowhere: last month, her mother, Judy Loe, died, and Beckinsale had already come out to defend herself against criticism of her appearance. Her representatives have said nothing so far.
