Costa Rica is the only country in Latin America that legally bans sport and trophy hunting throughout its entire territory 🌿 The measure, approved in 2012 through a historic reform driven by citizens, makes any recreational activity that harms wildlife a crime.

Those who violate this law face multimillion-dollar fines and effective prison sentences. Hunting is only allowed for scientific or subsistence purposes, under strict state regulation.

While other countries continue debating whether animals deserve protection, Costa Rica has already built an ecotourism model that shows that conserving wildlife is also profitable. 🦌
