Princess was about 8 months old when a car hit her on Williamson Road in Roanoke, Virginia.
Her owner, Curtis, saw it all and had no way to pay for an emergency clinic. So at 4 a.m. he arrived at Angels of Assisi, a nonprofit organization that offers affordable veterinary care, wrapped her in a blanket, and lay down beside her on the concrete.
He would wait as long as it took. What he didn’t know was that the security cameras were recording him.
When the team arrived, they brought her straight in. Princess couldn’t stand, had a dislocated front leg, damaged teeth, and nerve damage in her hind legs. The veterinarians managed to put her leg back in place, and weeks later, she was walking on her own.
Curtis visits her often, brings her food and treats, and people who saw the video donated on the clinic’s website. Lisa O’Neill, its director, summed it up this way: “Your heart breaks a little because this man loves this dog so much”.
