An investigation called “Operation Domino” ended with the arrest of Luis Miguel Duarte and his partner, Leslie Nicole, in Paraguay, accused of being part of an alleged scam ring.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, both allegedly set up a fake office where they offered supposed entry into public institutions, spots at the Police Academy, and “guaranteed” processing in exchange for money. Authorities raided the place and seized cell phones and the SUV they were traveling in when they were intercepted.
According to the investigation, the couple received victims in an environment that appeared official, charged large sums, and then disappeared. The case remains open, and authorities are not ruling out more people involved.
