Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most recognizable faces in the world, but even he finds a way to attend Mass peacefully without becoming the center of attention.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the footballer said that he is a practicing Catholic and that he tries to go to church every Sunday, whenever his sporting commitments allow it.
“I go to church every week. I’m Catholic, and I go to thank God for everything He gives me. I don’t ask for anything, I simply thank Him for protecting my family and friends”, he explained.
The inevitable question was how he managed to do it without the attendees recognizing him. His answer was much simpler than many might imagine:
“There are many churches in Turin”.
As he explained, his strategy consists of changing churches every week, thus avoiding always going to the same place and attracting too much attention.
Ronaldo also acknowledged that he sometimes forgets the extent of his fame. “Sometimes my friends and family tell me: ‘Do you know that you’re Cristiano Ronaldo? You can’t do that.’ Sometimes I forget, but it’s a good thing”, he commented.
Beyond his popularity and the packed stadiums, the footballer said that he maintains this habit as a way of giving thanks for his life, his family, and his friends.
