Cristiano Ronaldo left, and Portugal noticed on Instagram.
The national team’s official account had just over 25 million followers before the conflict. Today, it stands at around 23 million. The drop came after Ronaldo announced that he had left the training camp following coach Jorge Jesús’s press conference and a conversation with federation president Pedro Proença.

According to A BOLA, cited by ClaroSports, on Wednesday night, September 30, the profile had around 24.9 million followers. By the next morning, it had already lost more than 300 thousand. Meanwhile, a campaign among CR7 fans to unfollow the national team’s official social media accounts is growing, and his sister Elma Aveiro shared screenshots of the drop in her stories.
For his part, he wrote that “in due course” he would tell the Portuguese the truth and wished all his teammates good luck, without exception. That post has already surpassed 18 million likes.

Ronaldo’s real reasons remain unclear. What is clear is just how much his name carries weight, even when he is no longer at the training camp. Fair punishment for the national team, or an excessive reaction from the fans?
