A tense moment unfolded during a children’s swimming competition at the Cozumel Marina, when a huge crocodile was seen very close to the area where the participants were swimming in open water, triggering an immediate reaction from spectators and organizers, who began shouting to warn of the danger and prevent the animal from reaching the children.

In the videos that were quickly shared on social media, dozens of attendees can be heard shouting “crocodile, crocodile!” while pointing toward the water, a scene of panic and confusion that reflects the fear of everyone present as they saw the reptile dangerously approaching the minors who were competing without knowing what was happening around them.

Fortunately, the organizers’ quick intervention allowed the situation to be brought under control without major consequences and the incident left no one injured, although the fright was enormous and the images of the moment were recorded as a reminder of the dangers that can appear when water activities are carried out in areas where wild animals live.
