Luis Felipe Yagüé Cotazo is 74 years old and has a cart that knows every street in Florencia, Caquetá. For the past two years, he has traveled through neighborhoods selling panela, eggs, honey, curd cheese, and quesillo, the same products he buys directly from farmers like he once was.

University professor Franklin Gamboa recorded himself telling him that he would stop buying from him for supporting president-elect Abelardo De La Espriellas. The video went viral, but not as the professor expected. Many stated that everyone is free to make their own decisions, but they considered recording an elderly man while saying those words to him and then posting it on social media to be a complete lack of empathy.

Within hours, the Florencia community sold out his entire inventory. Don Luis Felipe, who prefers not to get involved in politics and only repeats that “there is no reason to discriminate against anyone because of their beliefs”, sums up what he felt this way: “That person wanted to harm me, but, for the glory of the Lord, doors opened for me”.
