An amputee cyclist ended up at the center of a heated discussion on social media after some videos went viral showing him using pepper spray against dogs that were running toward him in Texas, United States. 😣
While some claimed the reaction was exaggerated and cruel, others began to understand and defend his stance when he told his own story.
Aaron Smith, the man in question, explained that he lost a leg above the knee and also has metal plates in the other one, something that prevents him from escaping or reacting quickly if a dog charges at him in the middle of the road.
He also clarified that the spray he uses does not cause permanent damage and that his intention has never been to hurt the animals, but to prevent a possible attack.
Since then, the debate has not stopped… For some, he was just trying to protect himself. For others, he crossed a line.
