Dave Bautista, known for playing Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, sparked an intense discussion on social media after sharing a message about trans people.
The actor and former professional wrestler posted an image on Instagram that read: “If trans people bother you more than Nazis, rethink it”.
The phrase spread quickly and sparked mixed reactions. While some users praised the artist for speaking out against discrimination, others questioned the comparison and felt the message was too provocative.
“I was defending human rights. I don’t see what’s controversial about that”, one of his followers commented, according to Nova.ie.
This isn’t the first time Bautista has used his popularity to talk about social issues. He had previously also spoken out about women’s rights.
In an interview with TMZ, the actor said that all men should speak up more in defense of those rights.
His post once again showed how a single phrase shared by a celebrity can spark a wide-ranging debate, especially when it addresses topics that evoke such differing opinions.
