David Bentley, former Tottenham player and 7-time England international, 41, was calmly watching the match at Estadio Azteca. Suddenly, a Mexican fan stared him down and ran his hand across his neck. Instead of getting scared, Bentley flicked his wrist as if brushing it off and fired back an insult in English that sounded more like mockery than a fight. 😂

The atmosphere was no small thing: there were thousands of police deployed across the city and prior tension between the fans outside the English team’s hotel. Even so, the former footballer took the moment with humor and even described the fan’s attitude as a “red card”, as if he were refereeing the match from the stands.

England ended up winning 3-2, but what kept circulating on social media was that defiant stare and Bentley’s carefree reaction in the middle of all the chaos. 🔥
