It all happened in April 2015, when the singer showed off the new design that replaced an old lip tattoo.
“Rest in peace, vagina tattoo”, she wrote alongside the photo, using the hashtag #RIPvaginatattoo.
However, Ashley McMullen, who had done the original design, felt offended and responded publicly.
The artist said she had tattooed Demi for free and accused her of behaving inappropriately during that visit.
Lovato replied that she was only 18 and intoxicated when she got the tattoo, so she didn’t even remember McMullen.
Although she apologized for making fun of her work, she insisted that the design looked like an open vagina.
She even said that her little sister had compared it to a butt.
The singer also questioned why the tattoo artist had agreed to work with a young woman in that state.
What began as a lip design ended up becoming a rose and one of the most unusual tattoo controversies of 2015.
