Devyn Dalton is 1.37 meters tall. And yet, she was the one who hung from harnesses, carried weight and starred in one of the most physical sequences in “The Odyssey”, Christopher Nolan’s new film.

Matt Damon met her by chance in the catering tent on set. He did not know who she was until someone told him: that small woman with impressive arms had been his stunt double in the forced-perspective scenes alongside the Laestrygonians, the giants in the story. He hugged her right there and thanked her in person.

“In the film, you see my arms almost one hundred percent, but credit must be given where credit is due”, the actor said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. Dalton, born in Vancouver, Canada, has spent 15 years building a quiet career as a stunt double. This time, her height was not an obstacle: it was exactly what the film needed.
