Ellie Waters-Barnes had never considered studying medicine, but her life changed completely when she was diagnosed with aggressive cancer at 14. For months, she faced chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hair loss, tube feeding, and physical aftereffects that still remain with her.

Inspired by the doctors and nurses who cared for her, she decided to follow in their footsteps. Today, at 25, she graduated from medical school and says that having been a patient allows her to better understand the fear, doubts, and needs of those who will now be under her care. For her, that experience is not a weakness, but a strength. 💙
