Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez once again showed why he is one of the great idols of Argentine football, after winning the UEFA Europa League with Aston Villa.
Dibu took the microphone in the middle of the celebration and said: “People said I only win titles with Argentina. But guess what? They were wrong, I love you guys”.
He also took the opportunity to recall his failed transfer the previous season: “People said I was going to leave for Manchester United. Guess what? They were wrong”.
His words were interpreted as a direct response to those who downplayed his club career despite all his success with the Argentina national team.
