“What do you want, for me to throw your phone or what?”: Lamine Yamal’s father’s warning to a journalist who was recording him

It all started as a kind gesture. Some journalists approached Mounir Nasraoui, Lamine Yamal’s father, to congratulate him on his son’s current success in football. But the camera being on immediately changed the tone.

“Don’t record me, don’t record me. Respect, please. Thank you. You don’t have to congratulate me”, Nasraoui asked, visibly uncomfortable with the situation. The person kept recording, and then came the phrase that made him go viral: “Hey, what do you want, for me to throw your phone or what?”.

The video quickly spread on social media, and many are wondering whether the father of Barcelona’s young star had the right to react that way or whether he went too far with the warning. What was going to be a simple greeting ended up showing how little Nasraoui likes being in front of cameras.
