In 1992, a 23-year-old patient reported Dr. John Schneeberger, of Saskatchewan, Canada, for drugging and sexually assaulting her during a consultation.
When the police took his blood to compare it with the samples, it did not match. They repeated the test, and the result was the same. Everything pointed to the victim having accused the wrong man.
The truth took years to come out. Schneeberger had implanted a roughly 15-centimeter Penrose drain under the skin of his arm, filled with someone else’s blood mixed with anticoagulants, and diverted the needle toward that tube every time they drew a sample from him. The deception was only exposed when investigators obtained blood he could no longer manipulate. He was convicted of sexual assault, administering noxious substances, and obstruction of justice, and sentenced to six years in prison.
