Germán Andrés Somoyar did not hesitate when the ground began to shake.

As everything shook around him, this pediatrician made sure that the 10 newborns in his care got out of the hospital safely. He did not think about the risk; he thought about the babies who depended on his hands. That decision, made in a matter of seconds, ended up crossing borders.

The Network of Doctors in Germany (REMA) learned about his story and decided to support him fully: recognition of his medical degree, validation of his specialty in pediatrics, and a path toward a subspecialty in pediatric cardiology. They will also cover his medical German courses, the translation of documents, and even his plane tickets. Germán has already begun the process. What he did for 10 babies in just minutes of crisis is now opening up an entire future for him on the other side of the world.
