A dark shadow fell over Daniella Capitas Webster’s belly when, at 22 years old, her abdomen began to swell in a disturbing way.

Although doctors in Somerset dismissed her fears, attributing the lump to irritable bowel syndrome, the reality was much more macabre. After months of fatigue and pain, in June 2023 it was discovered that mucinous ovarian cancer had been silently devouring her from the inside after she had been repeatedly ignored.

The young woman underwent major surgeries where one ovary and a cyst containing two liters of fluid were removed. Today, at 24, she is battling permanent aftereffects such as memory loss and hearing loss after surviving intensive chemotherapy.
