Have you ever noticed a vertical line dividing your abdomen and thought it was something strange? It’s the linea alba, a band of connective tissue that all human beings have, although some show it more than others.

During pregnancy this line usually darkens more due to pregnancy hormones. It is said that the dark contrast helps the baby (who is born with very limited and blurry vision) find its way toward the mother’s torso. You could say it’s a kind of “biological GPS”.

It is not a stain or a mistake; it is a mark of anatomical power that we all have hidden, but that becomes the star during motherhood.
