Spud never wanted to be just a watchdog.
At The Scott Homestead, this Sheepdog and Border Collie mix had a clear task: herd sheep, keep order, and watch over the flock from a distance. But deep down, he always dreamed of something different — he wanted to be one more sheep among his meadow companions.
Everything changed when a newborn lamb arrived at the farm without a mother to feed her or protect her from the cold. Spud didn’t need anyone to teach him what to do. He set aside any herding instinct and settled beside her, as if he knew exactly what the little one needed.
From then on, he has accompanied her every step of the way, watched to make sure no one bothers her, and let her lie against his body as if she were his own lamb. For Spud, being a shepherd was never just a farm job — it was a promise that this creature would never again be left without a home where she could feel safe.
