Beyli had spent 29 days under the rubble when rescuers finally reached her. She was covered in dust, dehydrated, with ulcers in her eyes. And beside her small, trembling body, they found something no one wanted to see: the remains of her owner’s grandmother.

The story begins on June 24, 2026, when two earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 shook La Guaira, Venezuela, leaving more than 5,500 dead. In that collapse, in Catia La Mar, Victoria Rengel, an 11-year-old girl, lost her mother and grandmother. Her poodle was trapped among the rubble of the house where they lived.

No one expected to find her alive almost a month later. The veterinarians who examined her confirm that, although she arrived very weak, she will recover. For Victoria, who had already lost almost everything, Beyli returned as proof that something good could still happen.
