On May 18, Domino’s launched a bet that sounded almost impossible to lose: if any United States national team player was sent off during the 2026 World Cup, the brand would give away $1 million in pizzas. Few signed up thinking they would actually collect the prize. 🍕

But on July 1, at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in Santa Clara, forward Folarin Balogun was shown the red card by referee Raphael Claus during the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. In seconds, the promotion activated on its own.

Now more than 60,000 medium pizzas are available for those who registered before June 10 in Domino’s Rewards. Kate Trumbull, the company’s marketing director, had already foreshadowed the spirit of the campaign: betting on the improbable. Winners have until August 2 to claim their free pizza 🔥
