Don Julián, as he is known in his neighborhood, goes out every day to sell wafers on the streets of Colombia while dragging an oxygen tank. He does not stop even though breathing is difficult for him, because his children are waiting for him at home and the bills cannot wait.
His story reached Camilo Cifuentes, a content creator who never shows his face in videos because he prefers the spotlight to always be on the person receiving help. Cifuentes learned about Franco’s daily effort and decided to mobilize his digital community to do something bigger than a viral video.
Together they raised about 12.500 dollars, enough for the down payment on a home of his own and to get him a stable spot in a park where he now sells his wafers without having to walk as much. “I’m in no hurry”, Cifuentes repeats in every video, and this time that urgency translated into a real roof over the heads of a family that had been waiting for it for years.
