Donald Trump made one of his most controversial comments during a televised interview in 2006, when he spoke about his daughter Ivanka’s physical appearance in front of millions of viewers.
During his appearance on The View, he was asked what he would think if Ivanka decided to pose for Playboy. Trump replied that he didn’t think she would, but took the opportunity to praise her figure.

Then he uttered a phrase that caused surprise among those present: “If Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I would be dating her”.
The comment prompted an uncomfortable reaction in the studio and, over the years, became one of his most remembered statements.
His spokesperson later claimed it was a joke, but that did not prevent his words from being criticized for the way he referred to his own daughter.

In 2017, the humor site Funny or Die resurfaced the businessman’s earlier remarks in a compilation that brought the topic back into circulation.
Although the phrase is two decades old, it continues to cause controversy every time it resurfaces on social media.
