Kenya Moreno was only a few years out of her teens when she fell into a coma. She spent more than a month in intensive care in Spain, without moving, opening her eyes, or giving any sign that something inside her was still awake.

To keep her company, her mother played the same song by her idols, the Gemeliers, over and over throughout that entire time. What no one imagined was that Kenya could hear it. “It was torture, I swear it was torture, over and over again”, she later said in a video that went viral. She couldn’t feel the hands holding her or the hugs she received, but the music never stopped and there was nothing she could do to turn it off.

She also remembers an intense cold and the feeling of being trapped in a kind of dream she couldn’t escape from. Today, she has made a full recovery and even got to see the band that, without knowing it, accompanied her through the worst month of her life, live. She knew the song by heart.
