Ten years. That is how long Soñador spent confined on the rooftop of a house in the Gustavo A. Madero borough of Mexico City, with no roof to protect him from the sun or rain, eating only what some neighbor dared to throw to him.

The neighbors reported him again and again. The authorities never came. It was the Seres Libres MX association that finally climbed up to that rooftop on May 24, 2025, and came across something that seemed impossible: a dog covered in dreadlocks of fur matted by dirt and moisture, weighing more than 5 kilos.

The veterinary examination revealed the true cost of a decade of indifference: total deafness, a severe dental infection, and a heart murmur. Even so, Soñador was still there, with a will to live.
