Kane Farragher, 24, was sentenced to 12 years and nine months in prison after causing a fatal crash while driving under the influence and at 219 km/h. Although his license was suspended, he drove after using cocaine, cannabis, ecstasy, and ketamine.

After identifying the suspect vehicle, police began a pursuit, but Farragher drove the wrong way on a highway and crashed head-on into another car. His girlfriend, Taylor Jenkins, 24, died at the scene and another passenger suffered serious permanent injuries.

After the crash, Farragher denied having been in the vehicle and even tried to bribe the officer who arrested him. The court determined that he acted with complete disregard for the safety of others and also banned him from driving for more than 13 years.
