Dua Lipa and Callum Turner’s wedding in Palermo became a topic of debate in Sicily. According to reports cited by Infobae, the singer allegedly paid around 5,000 pounds — more than $6,000 — to neighbors affected by the disruption of a three-day celebration that included street closures, security zones, and events at historic sites in the city. 💍

The party brought together about 200 guests and allegedly took over spaces such as the Villa Igiea hotel, Palazzo Valguarnera Gangi, and the Galleria d’Arte Moderna, which closed its doors to the public for part of the day. While Mayor Roberto Lagalla defended the event for the international visibility it gave Palermo, some residents and business owners questioned the restrictions, the closures, and the difficulties getting around.

The phrase that summed up the discontent appeared in graffiti in Piazza Croce dei Vespri: “Palermo is not for rent”. Is a private celebration of this level justified by the money and tourist exposure it brings… or are there limits when it disrupts the daily life of a city? 👇
