Ducky is 13 years old and has lived with Abay, his owner, since he was just an 8-week-old puppy. No one imagined that this shih-tzu with a dark, silky coat would have to face two battles against cancer throughout his life.
During chemotherapy, his fur began to fall out, something common in this breed. Every two weeks, Abay and Ducky traveled nearly two hours to receive treatment, and although he looked weak and anxious, he never stopped playing with his favorite toys.
When his fur grew back, it was no longer the same: chocolate-colored strands appeared where there had once been light tones. Today, cancer-free, he remains the same festive spirit as always, known for his more than 40 Halloween costumes and his famous annual series ’13 Days of Halloween’.
