According to his testimony, when the sun goes down, the Bolivarian National Guard withdraws from the area and everything becomes “no man’s land”. That is when the looters come in: they take clothes, medicine, computers, appliances, the little that remained standing inside already destroyed apartments. Families who lost everything in the quake wake up the next day without the last things they had left.
The official death toll has already surpassed 5,398, and meanwhile Minister Diosdado Cabello announced “zero tolerance” after dismissing four CICPC officers for stealing money from victims.
