This time there’s no river, no log, and no one pushing him.
Edgardo Martínez, the 11-year-old boy who fell into the water in front of a camera in 2006 and uttered the immortal “¡ya güey!”, is considered the star of Mexico’s first viral video. His cousin recorded the moment as they played at filming a movie inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean during a vacation near Monterrey. The video made it to YouTube and never stopped circulating.
Now, at 32, Edgar falls again, but in a different way: he is getting married this Saturday, October 10, to architect Valeria Bermea, his partner since December 2016. The ceremony is set to take place in Cuatro Ciénegas, Coahuila, according to the bride herself. The engagement was made public on May 26, 2025, with a proposal surrounded by family members at a vineyard in the Sierra de Arteaga.

From memes to the altar: the boy who fell in front of the entire internet found someone to catch him. 💍
